When moving, it is important to keep your plans simple. Most people are not good at everything. This means that you should only focus on the essentials when getting ready for your move. Here are three things you need to do when getting ready for a move:
1. Get rid of clutter & junk
One of the worst feelings in the world is feeling tied down to things. When you move, it’s a good time to let go of the extra things that you don’t need and that take up space in your home. You should also clean out your house and throw away anything you no longer need and want to get rid of. When cleaning out your house, make sure there is nothing left behind before the movers come.
2. Plan ahead
Moving is never easy; however by preparing as much as possible beforehand makes moving much easier for those involved (the movers, the moving company). Moving truck companies usually require 3-4 weeks’ notice to secure a rental truck at a great rate. To avoid paying expensive rates or having trouble finding a place to store your belongings during the transition to your new house, make sure to plan ahead 3-4 weeks before the move.
3. Save receipts for moving expenses
Remember that when you are getting ready for a move, it is important to save receipts in case anything happens during the relocation process (which is why you should always use a qualified moving company). If something comes up and you need to file an insurance claim, be sure to keep all your receipts in order to get reimbursed by the moving company. Without them, you might not get reimbursed or receive only part of what was owed.
Good luck with your next move!
